Rail pads are subjected to constant stress and wear, especially in high-traffic areas. Ensuring durability and minimizing failures are essential to prevent costly downtime and frequent maintenance. Traditional testing methods were time-consuming and limited Delkor’s ability to quickly iterate and optimize designs.
The Solution
Delkor Rail adopted Endurica’s fatigue analysis software to optimize the performance of their rail pads. Using Endurica CL™, the team accurately predicted fatigue life, identifying potential failure points early in the design process. This allowed engineers to make informed decisions about material selection and product geometry, extending the product lifespan.
With Endurica EIE™, Delkor simulated multi-channel load scenarios, ensuring that the rail pads could withstand complex stress conditions, such as heavy loads and dynamic environmental factors. These simulations provided valuable insights, enabling Delkor to develop rail pads that performed reliably over extended periods.
Additionally, Endurica DT™ allowed Delkor to model crack growth behavior, ensuring that their designs could prevent early failures. The predictive capabilities of these tools helped Delkor reduce reliance on physical testing, accelerate development timelines, and improve product quality, enhancing infrastructure reliability for demanding rail networks.

Before Endurica, we went through 40+ design iterations trying to reduce the strain amplitude as much as possible. We also went through 4 or 5 rounds of physical testing before a successful test. Since we adopted Endurica CL, we have been able to compare the fatigue life for new designs against previous designs that we have been successful with. This has meant that we can produce a suitable design with only a handful of design iterations and a single physical test.
