The Challenge
Machine manufacturers using anti-vibration mounts aim to use smaller, more heavily loaded engine mounts. With newer engine regulations, finding space for these mounts has become increasingly challenging. Under these conditions, improperly designed mounts may experience premature fatigue under multi-channel load conditions, leading to performance degradation and a shorter lifespan. To address this challenge, AMC needed a reliable way to predict and resolve fatigue issues to exceed customer standards.
The Solution
To enhance the fatigue performance of their mounts, AMC combined Endurica’s advanced fatigue analysis tools with their proprietary vibration measurement equipment (AMC NVH EQUIPMENT). These measurements and simulations allowed them to predict engine mount behavior under complex, multi-channel loads, accounting for real-world conditions. The combination of empirical and theoretical analysis guided AMC in optimizing the geometry and material properties to meet durability requirements. Validation against customer field results confirmed that AMC’s solution performed as expected in the simulations.
